Purchasing Paintings

To purchase a painting, the customer should email me indicating the work they are interested in and any additional information they would like to have. When the customer has decided to purchase, they must let me know via email and include the exact shipping address. I will email back a confirmation invoice with final price, including shipping and handling, to the specified address. I will hold the painting until the payment arrives (up to 7 days). I will ship it, or the customer may pick it up, after the payment clears my bank (usually 2-3 more days). Customer will be notified via email when the product ships.

100% paid in full is required prior to shipping.
Check or money order. I am sorry we are not equipped to process credit cards.
I use either the US Post Office or UPS for shipping. You will be charged actual shipping charges plus $4.00 for packing materials and handling.
I recommend that the customer buy the insurance offered by the Post Office or UPS even though I have rarely experienced damage in the past. We do not cover breakage of glass or damage in shipping.
A customer who opts to pick up merchandise in Lima, Ohio will not be charged for shipping.

The minute I send confirmation of the pending purchase , the merchandise is tagged with customer's name and set aside pending receipt of payment (up to a week).

Custom Work

If a customer would like to commission a custom painting, they should email me the needs and ideas. A custormer might consider purchasing custom works for any of the following reasons.

to obtain a unique personalized work for a gift
to coordinate art style (or color) to asthetically blend with a particular decor
to obtain an original art work in a size which is atypical, such as tall and skinny or very small
to fit an existing heirloom frame

After a series of idea exchanges, I will decide of the project is feasible, and send the customer a price quote and time estimate.. Custom paintings are priced similarly to my other paintings. Price varies with size and complexity of the work, and is generally for art; frame is not included. A non-refundable 25% payment is required on any custom work (to cover the cost of art materials) before artistic work begins. The balance of the costs may be made at any time, but must be paid in full prior to shipping. The customer will receive an email photograph of the completed work. Generally, if the customer renigs on the payment at any time, no refund is available.

Payment Plan

Payment plans (and holding a painting for long periods until paid) are generally not available. In unusual circumstances, a payment plan may be negociated for those customers who are purchasing a custom work or for those customers who have an unexpected short-term financial difficulty completeing a purchase. Customer pays a 25 % down payment.
The balance owed will be divided into five equal payments which must be received monthly.
100% paid in full is required prior to shipping.
A customer has the option to pay the balance in full at any time.
Generally, no refund is available if customer renigs.

Should the customer break the payment plan contract, no refunds are offered. Under some circumstances however, credit in the amount which has already been paid may be available for a limited length of time.

Note about Mats and Free Frames

Most of my paintings are sold Matted and Framed, although some are sold Matted or Art Only. Acid free mats are chosen to best show the art and are individually cut and assembled for each piece. Frames are "found treasures". The pricing presumes that the customer will have their painting reframed. The customer may choose, if they wish, to have any Matted and Framed painting shipped Matted (without the frame) for the same price. Do note, that these free frames have been chosen to accent the painting and show character. "FOUND TREASURE" frames vary widely in style, quality, and condition, but all frames make a dramatic difference in the appearance of a painting. More than 80% of customers display the work as received.

All paintings become more striking when framed, even with one of the frames I offer free. A mat and frame really make the piece come alive.
